Suarez, Carroll > Torres

Is it official? Wow. As a Chelsea supporter I can't figure out if I like this deal or not.

Torres is a world class player but he's very injury prone, 50 million seems over the top to pay for him although Chelsea are a much better side with him in there. However, Liverpool paying 35 million for Carroll is mindblowing.

Carrol good player for Liverpool but way over priced. Crazy negotiations just because of the Torres money. Getting rid of Torres is fantastic, the guy is a fraud, single moments of brilliance doesn't make a great player, he just can't carry a team, ask Atletico Madrid.

Luis Suarez is a great acquisition for any team and would be worth his price tag of 26 million euros if it were a Spanish or Italian team but its England, latin americans just don't do well in the EPL (Forlan ,Tevez, Robinho in recent memory), so his performance will be doubtful, I have no high expectations.

David Luiz should fit in nicely for Chelsea, as for acquiring Torres. :tully:

Pool, had to do something to shake up that team. Their performance the last 2 years has been awful.

Henry will put money into the team, but it is going to take 2 years atleast to fix that mess.

Seems they have really high hopes for Carrol, for someone who has never really been an elite player.

What the hell is Chelsea going to do, play 3 strikers.

Newcastle have made out like bandits here - they've made 35m on a player who cost nothing, has been recently injured AND has a questionable personality and a criminal record for beating up women.

Chelsea have done what they needed to, made one final HUGE transfer splash before Roman Abramovich starts putting his money into Russian world cup stadiums and leaves Chelsea to be self sufficient.

Liverpool are now reliant on the aforementioned criminal with 6 months EPL experience, and a striker coming from the Eredivise which is a notoriously poor league, where strikers usually move to bigger leagues and end up being spectacular failures.

Fuck them anyway, fuck them all. The EPL is a corrupt piece of shit league and I cant wait until it all goes bankrupt.

I think they're a better team despite the outrageously overpriced Carrol; Torres either lost his ability to play or didn't want to play for Liverpool and they sold high on him at least. Also, much has been mentioned about NESV spending money unlike the previous American owners but it should be noted that the net transfer spend in January is basically zero.

Before he handed in the actual transfer request did he really lose interest though? He was clearly injured towards the back end of last season and couldnt rest up in the summer because of world cup duty - then came back and started the season fairly sluggish but he's always done what he got paid to do, score goals, its no wonder he often cut a disconsolate figure trying to play up front on his own when Liverpools problems (IMO) stem from the fact the midfield (minus Gerrard) is a complete and utter joke.

They've only made a gain personnel wise if both Suarez AND Carroll pan out well, and even if they do they still need 3 midfielders and 2 fullbacks before they can seriously think about getting back into the champions league - IMO they should have bought 2 midfielders with the money spent on Andy Carroll and let Suarez play up front on his own, a position which he excels in, seems to me Liverpool are trying to place a square peg in a round hole by fitting 2 strikers into a 4-4-2 formation who both would rather lead the line on their own.

The Carroll signing smacks of a panic buy to appease the (what was obvious) then imminent sale of Torres.

Still, interesting to see how it plays out.

Torres is asking for a good kicking on Sunday.

"I'm really happy and I'm sure I'm doing one of the biggest steps forward in my career, joining a club like Chelsea," said the Spaniard at his Stamford Bridge unveiling. "This is the target for every footballer - to try to play for one of the top clubs in the world. I just want to be at the level I'm supposed to stay at."
