I heard someone making a case that (reigning MVP) Stephen Curry has a legitimate claim this season for Most Improved Player.

It didn't seem like straight hyperbole either - there are stats to back it up.

It's time to start dealing with the fact that this guy - who sure doesn't (to me) have a physical presence like Lebron or MJ or Shaq or Magic - is the centerpiece of possibly the best team of all time.

As always with things like this, I just wonder how much they'll rest guys as the season winds down.

I feel like NFL teams need to take notice of Steph Curry. Here's why.

A big part of his game is shooting a high percentage of 3-point shots. Like this year he is shooting a ridiculous 46% of those shots.

For the whole league, there are only 3 guys with over 60% field goal percentage. Talking 2 pointers.

Now here's the thing: 3 points is more than 2!

46% of 3 is more than 60% of 2. And in fact that 60% number only applies to very few people and most of the best shooters are in the low 50's - or worse.

Kevin Durant's FG% is 50.5. That's 2's compared to Curry's 46+% of 3's.

Curry has a much higher points per shot expectation. It's not close.

And his team is playing .900 ball.

Football teams need to figure out that 2 points is more than 1 - and work on their 2-point converts. If someone can get very good - so their percentage is over 50 - that is better than 98% of 1-pointers.

Now the effect would not be as dramatic as Curry because teams don't attempt as many converts as Curry shoots 3's - but still.

2 points is more than 1.

Nice match-up tonight.

GSW at San Antonio.

Warriors with their .900 winning percentage and going for a season for the ages - Spurs still undefeated at home and looking to be the first to do that for a whole season. Both teams are 9-1 in their last 10.

San Antonio favored by 4.5 !!!!
