This article is fairly complimentary to Sharpton. I never felt anyone ascribe mlk type status to him, but this is a fair point among others:

"In many ways Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have it much harder than Martin Luther King did, having to fight an imbedded and largely out of sight oppression."
It should also not be forgotten, and the article implies this, that "leaders" are more like figure heads, they are driven by countless other people and events on the ground. Mlk couldn't exist today just like Sharpton couldn't exist in the 60's

Yeah I don't agree 100% with the article but it walked the fence and made some good points and counter points.

MLK could exist today. But most people who preach peace get assassinated. The war machine does not like the sound of that.

Anyone who takes Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton seriously should do the rest of the population a huge favor and hang themselves from a chair in their garage.
