The countdown is on. Bettie White is hosting on Saturday night. At 88, she will be the oldest host ever.

It is a big deal. Apparently there was a whole Facebook campaign dedicated to making it happen.

I confess I am puzzled by it. I don't know why the SNL demographic is interested in Bettie White. I like her and everything - she seems like a cool old babe - I just don't quite understand.



I haven't followed Bettie White's career for many years, nor have i watched SNL for years (decades??)

But I am seriously going to watch that and I don't know why.

What is she known for now? I know her from the Mary Tyler Moore show. Are they going to do Mary Tyler Moore Show spoofs? Will the SNL crowd get that?

She was on Golden Girls which I never watched but was quite successful. That is more recent but still not exactly what I would think is fresh in everybody's mind.

She has done an episode or two of The Simpsons and Family Guy. As I say, she is a cool old babe.

I don't know. I'll just have to watch.
