I just wanted to mention one of my favorite subjects since I just got "called up" to Sundays. Sundays are "big girl" scrimmage. This means I'll be getting clobbered by the likes of Psychobabble.

I've been going to "big girl" practices, but scrimmages are a whole different thing. I'll be scrimmaging with 5280 Fight Club among others. They're the team that gets the league their rankings. Right now in the season, they're ranked #2 in the country. They hit HARD. I'm thrilled to be learning from some of the best in the nation, and also petrified to get that first Sunday over with:

I won't be able to go this Sunday because I'll be out of town. But the Sunday after that.....trial by smashing.

On a side note....Rat City (Seattle) Rollergirls just broke the record for highest attendance of all time with almost 6,000 spectators.

She is. She's #40 in the picture of Fight Club. She hasn't been skating since February because of a broken ankle. I think she came back to scrimmage a few Sundays ago. I don't think she's on Fight Club anymore either. The just did evaluations and because of the injury and the time off, she got dropped down to The Contenders, our B team.
 
The cop is Frida, she's standing next to #40. Psychobabble and Deranged (not pictured) are the most frightening rollergirls I've ever met. Off the track, the nicest girls ever.

Did I mention they both were semi pro boxers?

Erika hasn't been drafted yet. She's in my group that started in December. That's who I'm going to Hawaii with on Wednesday. I think she may have been skills tested this weekend. If she passed (and I'm sure she did) she gets to pick her name and then get drafted in the next round probably in a few months. I'm a little behind my class because of my humongous skate debacle.

She's a pharmacist. The number she's been using for scrimmage is 80mg, and her temporary name for the exhibition bout we were in was "Jagged little pill". I don't know if she's going to stick with that name.
 
Mrs. X, did you ever see the documentary series on A&E (I think) about the Roler Derby girls? I think it only ran for one season but it was kind of intersting even though the majority of the girls involved were wither Goth or like those Betty Boop types.

I haven't seen it but I've heard from others that did, that it was complete crap and didn't do derby any favors.

I love Deranged more. Her and her sister are almost indistinguishable on the track. Psycho wears the joker makeup and Deranged wears half joker, half some sort of smiley teeth thing. All my derby crushes have fallen by the wayside except for Deranged. She's so talented, and still always so helpful and nice.
