Former Jays second baseman Roberto Alomar is rejoining the club as a special assistant, the team announced Thursday afternoon.
Alomar, who will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer, will serve his role in baseball operations and the Toronto community.
Jays President Paul Beeston felt it was all but incumbent on the Blue Jays organization to bring Alomar back to the team in some capacity. Alomar is generally regarded as one of the top three Jays of all time, and will be the first player to enter the Hall of Fame in a Jays uniform.
