i should have seen it coming, because there was an article in bloomberg a couple weeks ago about how all the brazilians are in miami buying vacation condos and houses because they are so much cheaper than in brazil. and there was an article in the nyt about brazilian nannies making 3k a month.

i know we mostly hung out in upscale tourists places and stuff, but everything was at least 3x what it would cost here. taxis, lunch, etc. thats partly because the dollar sucks but still seems outrageous. Had the most expensive meal of my life (it sucked). Spent $80 on a cab to the airport this morning. Mrs. durito got a $225 new bathing suit.

You could see it in Buenos Aires, the city's economy now depends on the Brazilian tourist.

But at the same time is very poor, salario minimo is only 600 reais.

It's two countries in one.
