There's another form of bull fighting in Spain called recortes where you don't kill the bull, but just try to avoid it. No cape, no swords, they are graded as how gymnastically as possible you can avoid not being gore. Jumping on top of it, running next to it, etc. it's more a test of endurance for the fighter. Not everybody is in favor of the killings. Bull fighters that kill are called matador, and the ones that try to avoid them are recortador.
