I'm running pclinuxos on an old HP P4 3Ghz machine with hyperthreading and 2GB RAM, plus a 24 inch monitor.

Using virtualbox to run Windows 7 - mainly for online poker. Everything else can be done in Linux.

Slower than XP for sure. But I'm using an old Pentium 4 32bit machine with 2GB RAM as the host.

I'm pretty sure it would be pretty fast on a modern pc with multiple cores and lots of RAM.


All said though performance of both is very good inside the virtual box.

PCLinuxOS seems to be prety fast and stable as well.

You guys are almost making me want to get a cat. I have only had one cat...and it was a mean cat. I wonder how Pogo would react to a cat? Any experience bringing a cat into a dog household?

Mixing cats and dogs is a crapshoot. In my experience, when we had Muddy and a dog came to stay with us, she totally freaked out. It's a wonder she didn't drop dead of stress. But then later we moved into a house with a dog and she settled in okay. She sure wasn't going to be friends with the dog but I think she knew it was the dogs' territory so she wasn't so resentful.

The dog was fine with it either way. Old dog. It was kinda funny how the cat would be freaking out with the dog the total center of her universe, and the dog barely knew she was there.

Anyway, that's just one example. Could go either way. Some dogs are high-strung, some are easy-going. Same with cats. Same goes with bringing in a dog with another dog or cat with a cat.

Throw them together? Total crapshoot.
