Me too, back when custom building was cheaper than buying a name brand.

I built dozens of systems from 1997 - 2008, for myself and others, until it just became easier to buy a ready made name brand pc.

Yeah. After my first computer, I never owned a PC that I didn't build until a few years ago. Now that I have load balanced servers, I'm better off with branded builds. But I'm still resistant to not being able to choose the exact components that I want in my machines. I hate being stuck with inferior parts. At least with servers, they don't typically skimp.

Are you a shopaholic or do you actually need all of this stuff?! Or maybe Mrs D is breaking it all? I swear it feels like every few weeks you're buying something electronic.

I have been buying way too much stuff. Emily uses my ipad now, if she even sees it she has to have it so I keep it put away. It's the first one so it's old anyway and I hate apple now so I wanted something to read on that's not a computer.

The Galaxy Note phone I bought in Colombia in April completely crapped out, it's also locked on a carrier there. I could have gotten it fixed and unlocked, but Samsung gave me $200 for it and the SIII was only $250 here with contract which I would have had to get anyway so it was only $50.

I also bought 2 laptops in the last year, got the first one last december and the display turned all fuzzy in february and the idiots at samsung in Colombia said it needed to be replaced and that my us warrantee wasn't valid and it would be $600.

So I bought another one to use while I sent the first one in to get fixed (which I didn't end up doing as I opened it up and managed to fix it myself (display was not in fact broken, something was loose inside)). But I already had the new hp as well.

Oh I also bought 3 tv's in the last year. Ours exploded last november, so got a new one. Then had to sell that when we moved, and bought 2 here.

So I'm an idiot, had bad luck and moved. But mostly Samsung in Colombia sucls. Don't even ask me about cars.
