Random thoughts

I really have no interest in seeing it. There hasn't been a movie that I've been excited to see in several years.

Departed was probably the last one.

I have no particular urgency to see The Hunger Games however there is a movie coming up which I am anticipating more than anything in recent memory: the musical, Les Miserables.

Even though it is not due out until December, I already have a date set up for opening night.

(Not that I don't fear they will totally screw it up).

So you're into Les Miz, huh?

Yeah I don't know why I am expecting disaster. I have some faith in the director who has done stuff I have really liked (The King's Speech, The Damned United, the John Adams mini-series). But I guess I just wonder how it will be adapted for the screen. I would think, unless they want a 4.5 hour movie, they will have to drop some songs in favor of dialogue and maybe even some characters. That will be hard to take for the long-time aficionado.

I am more-or-less at peace with the casting. The only one I don't like is Anne Hathaway as Fantine. I expect Hugh Jackman will be a decent Valjean. I have seen an interview with Amanda Seyfried about playing Cosette. While she talks like a typical young American girl (poorly), even mispronouncing her character's name (Cozette), she seems to have some passion for the project and also the operatic training. Russell Crowe as Javert? The idea took some getting used to but I have an open mind about it.

Muddy, it was great years ago when I saw it! Or maybe MrsM saw it with friends in NYC and told me it was great! Who cares really but I know I've been to a few of those things and enjoyed it getting dressed up in a monkey suit and eating at a classy establishment along with the plays!

I'm a HUGH Jackman fan! Enjoy!

If Tiger Woods can stay at the top of the leaderboard today, I will probably watch the wrap-up of that tourney. It will be the first time I have watched any golf other than majors in ages.

Golf purists may not like it but for a lot of people, it is all about Tiger.

Muddy, I only watch majors bits and pieces myself also! Will tune in also but for some reason hoping Tiger loses! Wanted him to break Jack's record but right now don't want him too! Still up for debate!

Muddy, you might have never watched any but I also watched once in the awhile the Seniors Tour! Weird but how irrelevant has that golf become! Do you ever hear anything bout it? Possibly collateral damage effect of no Tiger at the top!

Same way you become an anything purist, I guess. You declare yourself.

Yeah I don't know what has happened to the Seniors tour MrM. I remember when it was a pretty big deal and there was considerable publicity back in the time of Lee Trevino through Hale Irwin.

I mean, I never gave a shit but you couldn't help but hear some chatter.

I still want Tiger to break the Nicklaus record. Not sure why.

I was watching some curling this week. It is the women's world championships and the final is today. I would watch that pretty closely except Team Canada was eliminated yesterday. 4th place finish.

Anyway, it's the mens I am way more interested in. That begins next weekend and wraps up the weekend after that.

Let's go Glen and the boys!
