I keep trying to find places to order food around here where people don't know me.

Now even at Sheetz they are all friendly and shit, and at the surf and turf on Fridays place.

I want to be a stranger, but once you aren't a stranger there is no going back.

I want anonymity.

Matty when I place an order at Sheetz and the guy is like "I forgot to ask you if you wanted that toasted last time" and it has been liek a month something is VERY wrong. Or maybe I'm the only fucking guy who is so impatient he orders take out from Sheetz. Well you know what they're FOKKING SLOW.

I'm in the opposite situation here. Coworker and I tend to go to this old-school mom & pop diner where the guy starts preparing two grilled chicken cesar salads and a side order of fries as soon as we step in. Then we talk about sports and mock the Leafs fans in the place (owner is from Montreal.) Guy doesn't take debit or credit, so if you don't have cash he'll actually open you a tab (on paper!) and trust that you'll pay back your debt next time you come around. This is extremely uncommon in gray/cold/business-geeky Toronto. We go 2 or 3 times a week. 10 Matty Rains.

I'm cool people being familiar, I mean shit man when I call Minimart MM Girl pretty much knows what I'm going to get (her tookus). Just calling in Sheetz after so long and the guy talking about my order from weeks ago I found odd. I mean I almost never go in there and dude knows my shit? Wtf? Then again I haven't had coffee yet and everything is piss to me right now.

Yeah. Every big name retail chain is disgustingly optimized for maximum purchases. Even producers like Driscoll's grow berries for size/color over taste. Big colorful berries in clear packages sell better.

Hard not to be a pawn in this ridiculous world.
