Thing that bothers me is, a split second after the critter was illuminated by my rental car's headlights, I remember making the conscious decision not to try and swerve around it. I was doing 65-70 and had no idea about the car's swerving abilities, so I kept the car going perfectly straight and I looked down.

IMO, don't be bothered by this. It was the right decision for the reasons you stated. Many people would panic/swerve and only risk greater calamity. If anything, be proud that you can make a calm, intelligent decision where many others wouldn't.

What you did was smart.

I still remember the time I ran over a squirrel - must've been 30 years ago. Weird how it sticks with you. Like logically, how many living creatures have I killed driving my car. Thousands? Millions? I know that's true but I guess once they get to be a certain size, the brain makes it matter more.
 
word to the wise:

never stop and get out of your vehicle after running over a cat driving through a trailer park.
I stopped after a cat ran under my tire to check on it, it was dieing fast.. nothing I could do..

then outta no where an old man comes after me with a shovel:pogo:
old fuker chased me around my truck at least 5 times :hahaha:

I made it away w/out getting hit by a shovel:greencheck:
 
Man I enjoy Frito's Corn Chips. I am on a Frito's Corn Chips kick right now. It had been a long time since I had them - probably years - but then I decided to grab a bag a little while ago - and now I am having them all the time. I really enjoy them. It makes me wonder why I went so long never having them. I guess that's just how it goes.

in highschool the boys would go the the A&P (corner store) and take those hot spicy fritos bags over to the nacho machines and fill them with nacho cheese and that chili and then hold the bag tight, shake it all up and eat it with a fork.

gross, but surprisingly tasty.
