One of the harder things for me to understand is people seriously presenting the notion that Jose Tabata did something wrong in getting hit by a pitch that broke up Max Scherzer's perfect game.

Like he should have tried harder to get out of the way?

Not seeing that on any level. I played some ball, and I was always trying to win. Getting on base was a big part of that.

The notion of helping out the other team's pitcher to complete my team's day of perfect futility ---> that was not anywhere in my thing.

Brings back a memory. Not the exact same situation - but I was on the wrong end of a no-hitter once.

I did not like it.

I came to bat with 1 out in the 9th - and hit a deep fly ball that would have cleared the low fence for a home run if no one was out there. Guy caught it though.

I was also on a team that pitched a no-hitter. I did not enjoy that as much as I disliked being on the receiving end.

No. Replacing it.

They kicked around the idea of four minutes of 4-on-4, then if it's still tied, four minutes of 3-on-3 (then the same shootout as before).

But the union complained about the additional minutes so they finally decided to go straight to five minutes 3-on-3.

I imagine that will break a pretty high percentage of ties with no need for a shootout. I have no data here but my gut is saying over 75%.

I assume you're talking about this one. Helluva nab.

Fokken Marco Estrada making a name for himself. Second game in a row where he takes a no-hitter into the 7th. Perfect game in this case.

Guy was supposed to be a spare part, disposable, plug-in.

The infield hit that broke up the perfecto is further down that same page I linked.
