Good news in Leafs land, unloading that Marleau contract. From the scuttlebutt, it sounded like he would accept Sharks or nothing, but I guess they worked it out.

Interesting deal. There are a couple of late-round picks flipping around but basically, the Leafs give up a serviceable player - plus a first round pick - just to get rid of a one-year contract. It shows the true value of cap space.

Next stop for the Leafs: Zaitsev.

Question is, will someone actually want him and give something up for him, or will they have to pay someone to take him too.

Opinions differ on that.
