The guy left two voice messages explaining, one 13 minutes long and the other 27 minutes.

Boney, in lots of countries specially in the third world people caught the habit of leaving voice messages instead of texting the messages. It never caught on in the US and western European countries, but almost all the rest of people are like that.

You press and hold the button like a walkie talkie, speak your message and then let go when finished. The message is sent and the other person plays it once it downloads to their device. I personally hate it, I don't want to spend listening 2 minutes what my eyes can scan in 20 seconds. But it started because in the third world mobile networks/home wifi were not good when the whole smart phone revolution came, so making a data call would breakup the voice or worse the video call. So people just started the habit of recording and sending, the other person listens, records and sends a reply. And on and on long ass conversations like that.

Networks in the US and Europe were good enough so it never became popular there. Boney did you know millennials/gen z'ers now a days have anxiety and panic attacks when they have to speak on the phone to strangers, I can tell you about it next time.
