Some people tend to favor the everyday player over a pitcher for this award. I believe that it's up to the Pirates. If they shut Skenes down early on the season because they have nothing to play for, he might fade from the race. Merrill is a stud for a playoff contender so he has a shot to get more attention down the stretch. My opinion is that you can't find a more dominant performer than what Skenes has done every fifth day since they brought him up.

I think they want him to win ROY. A pitcher in the same spot yesterday that was a head scratcher was the Cubs starting Justin Steele coming off an elbow injury.
