Yes, I went to both. I liked them both for different reasons.


Abu Dhabi seemed much larger and more established, with complete landscaping everywhere.

The main highlights in Dubai were The Palm, The Burg Khalifa tower, and the malls.

In Thunder Bay since last night, I see signs posted on the streets asking people to conserve water etc but no sign of disaster.

To be fair my only activity here has been going to a Chinese food buffet, drinking beer at the sports bar (in the motel across from the big funeral complex on Cumberland Street North) and sleeping at the motel.

Plommer did not notice any hookers.

I love Thunder Bay's Chinese food. Other than the real thing it's the best I've ever tasted. The Red Rickshaw on Brown Street in Westfort makes awesome spare-rib bon bons and eggrolls. You should try to get there one of these times you're there. It was really cheap too from what I remember.

Hunters are readying their bows and arrows for the first deer hunt within Thunder Bay’s city limits — and most residents aren’t complaining.

An influx of deer living in the city over the past few years led to daily collisions between motor vehicles and Bambi, more bear and wolf sightings and fears of ticks and lime disease.

The city didn’t want to cull the deer or feed them fertility drugs, so council sanctioned an urban deer hunting season to try to control the problem, said Ron Bourret, the city’s manager of bylaw enforcement.

From Sept. 1 to Dec. 15, people with valid hunting licenses will be allowed to use cross bows, compound bows, recurve bows and long bows to hunt deer on private property in the city’s rural and semirural areas.

Guns are still forbidden.
