USA Today first 2 paragraphs of story .....

A blast of swirling, bitterly cold air sweeping across large parts of the USA was leaving record-low temperatures and dangerous conditions in its wake Monday.

Chicagoans awoke to a record low of minus-16 degrees Monday, with a wind chill temperature in the minus-40s. Sioux Falls, S.D., just missed a record with its temperature of minus-18, although the accompanying wind chill was a robust minus-37.

Two of GL's stronghold areas being mentioned! :up:
hahaha....that's crazy.. Things are so ridiculous here I can't even begin to tell you. I need to do a video of Pogo going out to do his business. He's learned to be efficient.

I drove home this morning on Lakeshore Av in Toronto at about 4am. It was a blast because there was no one on the road and there were big slushy ruts..

Let's just say, I gave my new snow tires a good test and anyone who spotted me fishtailing the Lakeshore would have had a good chuckle.

Here's a pic our ex-next door neighbor for 25+ years sent MrsM this morning!

I don't mind the snow so much, but the extreme cold is pretty tough to deal sometimes. I don't like the sounds my car makes when it gets too cold.

I just realized that every time I want to quantify the temperature, I can't decide whether to do it in C or F.

Who likes C and who likes F?

I like it when it is -40 so I won't have to convert.

If a Canadian says to an American "its 0 degrees out";

Does an American automatically assumes the Canadian means Celsius or Fahrenheit?

Should we do the conversion for you? Or can you all possibly figure this out by yourselves that we mean Celsius? :thinking:
