why would the Chargers relocate to LA? San Diego is not a big enough market?

Decrepit stadium, apparently. Owner's been trying for 16 years to rob, I mean use taxpayers monies to have a new stadium built.

Seriously though, his reasoning is not all bad. He wants to compete for the LA market ASAP, before the Rams fully establish themselves there. Makes sense to me.

I heard today that the Charges owner has to pay a $650 million relocation fee. I didnt verify this but if true couldnt this money be used on a stadium. Greedy fucking owners, if i owned a team i would sell, they have to be at the point where revenues are about to decrease.

I guarantee: numbers have been crunched.

It's too bad fan loyalty is given next to no value. People are fans of a team since their first consciousness and suddenly BOOM! - fuck you. Doesn't seem right.

But then I guess that is up to politicians, not owners, to give value to the feelings of fans. You want to keep your townsfolk happy? Build the stadium and keep the team.

Meh, it's all a a bunch of pointless noise and busywork - then we die.

:handshake:

I intend to take a look at the early game today. Seattle @ Atlanta.

I've got a few things to do today during which, it will be good to have a playoff football game on in the background. Seems like there is a better chance of a competitive game than the Patriots game.

The NFL was giving SD $300 mil to help with the stadium. Add that to the $650 mil by Spanos, i'm sure SD would have passed a bond to get a new stadium. The kicker is, I don't think Spanos was serious as he didn't put a dime into Qualcomm (as he agreed to do for basic maintenance/upkeep). His new deal with the Rams - the rams pay for the stadium and he pays $1 rent/year.

$1 rent.

Have fun playing on the soccer field for the next two years. Probably destroy it for the Galaxy.

wow, Seattle is a 6.5 point dog. That's hard to believe. And it moved like 3 points. Is somebody out? Hate Seattle, but boy if doesn't sound like easy money:blushing:

I can't help but feel the same way, but I have read that there is lots of sharp money on Atlanta... :dunno:

The fact that Atlanta is a scoring machine, coupled with Seattle's sketchy offense has got it to -6.5.

I dunno...maybe it's just me...but if there is 3rd and 20something, shouldn't you rush more than 3 defenders? Maybe, I don't know, put some pressure on the QB so he can't just run around and make a pinpoint 35 yard pass so they can just kick a field goal and beat you?
