Agreed.
Management has been under pressure to make the playoffs, so over the years they made boneheaded trades like Raycroft for Rask and picks for Kessel and improve just enough to miss the playoffs and not get a good draft pick.
The best (worst) of both worlds .
The Leafs need to suck alot more in order to land a top prospect.
I hope they lose every one of their remaining games and get rid of other teams castoff players (Kessel, Phaneuf).
They need to get worse before they can get better.
Just look at the Islanders.

Yeah, Edmonton is hard to explain. Ottawa did it in the 90's and it got them to the Cup final once, they were a very good team for a long time. Unable to beat the Leafs in the playoffs was their achilles heel.
