Time and time again, we see extremely questionable outcomes that side w certain betting lines.

Case in point tonight Celtics OVER 109.

No reason they shouldn’t have covered it.
Instead of listing the MANY reasons why they should’ve, I’ll just state that if you don’t think various NBA games aren’t fixed, you truly don’t watch basketball.

Not trying to antagonize, just curious on your thoughts.

How deep do you believe the NBA fixing hole goes? Is it like games/outcomes are fully scripted? Or is it just rogue refs/players that can influence small bits of the game?

Not as much wins losses as total points in games particularly.

A hell of a lot easier fixing game totals as opposed to point spreads.
But who's doing the fixing? And who is in on it?

Like is it individual refs calling the game a certain way to influence the pace and in turn the total, going into business for themselves or getting a call from the higher ups?

Or are players also asked to play a certain way?

The refs.

We have already had one thrown in jail for riding games, and when Stern was commissioner he turned a blind eye to SO much. Donahey even said other refs were doing it. He may be a degenerate, but I believe him

The best way is how the Toronto player did it - play under on himself, then take himself out after a couple of minutes.

Yeah, I personally think the "it's scripted" conspiracy theories are ridiculous, as in this day and age of social media where everything leaks, I just don't believe wide-spread conspiracies with perfect cover-ups are too likely.

But a ref or player going into business for themselves (and a small group that has everything to lose and nothing to gain from ratting) makes sense.

But didn't he also say it was less about fixing games and more just about inside info? IE they were told in ref meetings to call more or less fouls on certain players/situations, and he knew how that'd affect the game and told his buddies?

I can buy that fixing/manipulating exists among refs, but I personally don't think they'd bother doing it in the NBA Finals.

You've got over a thousand regular season games to fuck around in. Why risk it all on this stage? Better to fuck with some bullshit Pistons v Pacers game in November no one cares about.
