You have your Super Bowl, your US Open, your World Series, your NBA Championships etc.

We have our Grammy Awards, Emmy Awards, Academy Awards, etc.

And I have my Tony Awards. The television highlight of my year. And yes some of you are thinking "WTF is the Tony Awards?", well briefly put, it is an award show just like the Academy Awards, but instead of being for movies it is for Broadway Theatre.

Is anyone thinking "what's that?" (if you are dude, get out more), Broadway theatre is like a movie but with real people on stage performing right in front of you. Some shows have music and dancing, some do not. These plays and musicals happen all over the world, but the "hollywood" of theatre is the Broadway area of New York City.

So more to the point, Neil Patrick Harris, who is absolutely adorable, hosted again this year. And in the opening number he sang a song about how Theatre is for Everyone, and not just the gays anymore! Check it.

"If you feel like someone that this world excludes, it's no longer only for dudes who like dudes. Attention every breeder, you're invited to the theatre."
"We're asking every hetero to get to know us better, oh, it's not just for gays anymore"

Again, more to the point, even if you say "I don't like theatre", I urge you to go to a play or musical. There's something for everyone.

CGNJ, I have been to a few plays over the years in Philly like Les Mis and Phantom O T Opera and enjoyed them! It's nice to get dressed up and go to a classy restaurant. Never been to NYC for one but MrsM has probably half a dozen times!

Never really thought that gays only took in plays? Just always was under the belief that most of the actors starting in the plays were gay?

So they take a gay guy and have him play the biggest, unrealistic womanizer imaginable on How I Met Your Mother. :lmao: I wonder who has a lower opinion of the public's intelligence? Hollywood or government.

actually Reno, if you ever watch the show you'd never know he was gay. it's this fabulous thing called acting, and that is what his career is, as an actor, to not be himself when playing characters in movies, tv and on broadway. that is the whole point. it's not having a "low opinion of the public", that is just silly. he is extremely talented, aren't you glad that we have such wonderful talented actors in our life time like NPH? And with that being said, many actors are gay. I'm not going to go on an "outing" here and list them all, male and female, but like I said, its this little thing called acting, thats the whole point. if everyone just played themselves then all we would have is reality tv and Jennifer Aniston (who only plays herself, every character is always the same). Don't put down the actors. Appreciate their talent and artistry.

not putting down the actor.
I'm referring to great talented minds in Hollywood who write the show. They can't create a realistic character who has anything meaningful to say or show, so they create a laughable, unrealistic, cliche womanizer. And they get a gay guy to play him, adding to the ridiculousness of the whole concept.

Not really understanding why his being gay is an issue? Barney is one of the funniest characters on tv right now and that has everything to do with NPH's ability to portray his over-the-top womanizing behavior.

true, and the show has gone down hill.

LOL, i love you!
