You have your Super Bowl, your US Open, your World Series, your NBA Championships etc.
We have our Grammy Awards, Emmy Awards, Academy Awards, etc.
And I have my Tony Awards. The television highlight of my year. And yes some of you are thinking "WTF is the Tony Awards?", well briefly put, it is an award show just like the Academy Awards, but instead of being for movies it is for Broadway Theatre.
Is anyone thinking "what's that?" (if you are dude, get out more), Broadway theatre is like a movie but with real people on stage performing right in front of you. Some shows have music and dancing, some do not. These plays and musicals happen all over the world, but the "hollywood" of theatre is the Broadway area of New York City.
So more to the point, Neil Patrick Harris, who is absolutely adorable, hosted again this year. And in the opening number he sang a song about how Theatre is for Everyone, and not just the gays anymore! Check it.
"If you feel like someone that this world excludes, it's no longer only for dudes who like dudes. Attention every breeder, you're invited to the theatre."
"We're asking every hetero to get to know us better, oh, it's not just for gays anymore"
Again, more to the point, even if you say "I don't like theatre", I urge you to go to a play or musical. There's something for everyone.
