that is an interesting perspective into the human mind Muddy. I mean we often confronted with people adamantly denying shit that we believe to be true. (things that they themselves only know for sure)
It seems that there's something that happens to the brain where you start believing the virtue of your own lies, if not the lies themselves :dunno:

Big-time.

He did try to befriend me at times and tried throwing a few flattering lies at me to see if I would throw a few back. Like he might suddenly jump into a thread with something like, hey, Mudcat won $100,000 playing blackjack last week.

To which I would say, "No I didn't."

We talked a few times through PM's. Like the first couple times that happened he might send me a follow-up PM saying, "Come on man, just go along with it. I'm trying to pump you up here."

"No."

There were elements of self-awareness and self-deception with him.

In any case, he gave up on the idea of me having a role in his thing pretty fast.

interesting stuff

Muddy hits on some aspects that I don't think are often talked about and some stuff most of us aren't privy to... the early behind the scenes ghosting that only mods could witness.

I think there is more to it than pure Neediness though... there is a great deal of calculation involved (IMO)

I think RogueJuror could chime in with some added depth since he met the guy in person and I think went back to his house for awhile....

I'd actually be more interested in hearing about BigBoyDan considering his complete off the wall schizo break down the past year. Was he always that bat shit crazy and kind of hid it?

or did something like a head injury or simply non-compliance with strong meds happen between 08 and 2013?

Nicky must have come along after I was a mod. I had no particular responsibility to monitor his posting. I was kinda stuck with jj for the better part of a year but not nicky.

My recollection is Nicky did indeed have a very similar needy shtick and dove headfirst into the whole thing with the exchanging of flattering repetitive lies .

Completely uninteresting to me so ---> quickly on ignore. The whole gang - jj, Fishhead, raiders, slickfazzer - various other interchangeable appendages that came and went in my post-mod days, some ghosts, some real ---> on ignore.

By the end of my time at SBR, I must have had 80% of the posts on the forum blocked out. So much crap, so much crap. The ignore function ---> a beautiful thing.

Anyway, beyond what I just said, I have almost nothing in the way of impressions about nicky.

That is a common misconception which any number of ghosts would encourage you to believe but no, the neediness came first. The shtick was the same when there was no thought of getting paid. The neediness was always the root.

It's a money making machine. They get paid by people using their links and then using those companies. The posters that provide entertainment give the players something to do besides just gambling.
