I found some old photos of things that are no longer around that brought back some good memories.

You remember these?

Damn you're OLD Plommer.

50's transit. LOL
I was born in 1966, so I was a kid in the 70's and 80's.

I remember the Bulova tower at the CNE back around 1975-1978, they tore it down for some reason, not sure why.

Also remember Exhibition stadium very well, used to be a vendor as a kid at Blue Jay and Argo games and during concerts at the CNE.

Good times.

Oh sure, I remember all that. Bulova clock. Flyer. A trip to the CNE was a guaranteed yearly thing all through my younger years (which, due to to my current advanced oldness, go back even further than yours). I could get into all sorts of details. Remember the doggy doggy guy by the GO entrance? The CHUM Wildcat? So many memories of the food building.

Exhibition Stadium in the baseball set-up I knew very well. There was a time I was an actual honest-to-gawd fan and I would go to ~40 games a year just for the love of sport. I remember getting bleacher seats from Dominion for 50 cents each in the early 1980's. I was just over the 3rd base dugout for the tragic game 7 of the 1985 ALCS when Sundberg hit that heartbreaking wind-blown triple off Dave Stieb.

A couple years ago I went to an Argos game and saw Radio guy Mike Cooper doing some promotional stuff for CHFI 98 and when he was done asked him if he was the same Mike Cooper that worked for 1050 Chum back in the 1970s when he set a record by staying on the ferris wheel for the entire duration of the CNE, he said it was indeed him and that he was 19 yrs old at the time and was paid very little for completing the stunt but he had fond memories of the event. I remember it well because there was a huge 1050 CHUM banner on the ferris wheel compartment that he spent all that time in.

I also remember back in the 1980's when 104.5 CHUM FM used to be a rock station and was the presenter of most concerts back in the day. I still have Rush concert ticket stubs that say "Rush - presented by 104.5 CHUM FM".

Muddaaay, I'm all verklempt.

PS: I'm going to the Rush show this Saturday at the Air Canada Centre.

I saw Rush many times way back when. Mainly at Maple Leaf Gardens but at The Ex as well. I don't really care for them any more. Have fun though.

I haven't been to the Ex for probably about 10 years. Last time I was there they had some funky new rides. They took you way up in the air and turned you upside down and jostled you around pretty good. It was a far cry from the old Wildmouse.

Muddaaay, I don't remember Rush ever playing the CNE, I always saw them at Maple Leaf Gardens.
Do you remember any of those concerts?

PS: Of all the concerts I've attended 95% have been Rush shows, I've never been interested in many other concerts, although I remember having 3rd row centre floor seats for Triumphs "A sport of kings" show, oh and Ronny James Dio at the CNE was cool too.

Attending a Rush show is right up there on my all-time favourite things I love, I really enjoy myself at a Rush concert.

Absolutely I remember. They played MLG on New Year's Eve for years, usually with Max Webster or sometimes April Wine. They'd come to town at other times too. Rush was my absolute favorite band at one time. I wouldn't miss those shows.

I definitely saw them at Exhibition Stadium in the early days. I don't know if it was during the CNE or not but I remember sitting in the stands while they played Lakeside Park and all that.

Well we both have this in common, my only beef with you is your love of the Canadiens, as a Leaf fan I cannot get over this.

I do not get Rush, not at all. That such a group has gained fame and is still revered by hordes of people who call themselves music fans is one of the most baffling things this quasi-Canadian has tried to comprehend.

Seriously, wtf. Cut it out.
