The Salton Sea (2002) - this is a really well put-together movie IMO. I recommend it. I can't explain how the same director can create this gem and also Two For The Money but somehow, it be. 7.4 out of 10.

I watched this today and it wasn't horrible... but 7.4? Really? I enjoyed the sequence that describes speed freaks, also those two crazy meth wholesaler characters, but apart from that this is formulaic police shit with easy twists and turns and a light sprinkling of high-school-grade existentialist bullcrap. I am a trumpet player... wait, no, I'm Val Kilmer and I should've turned down that forgettable role along with its cheesy lines. 5 Matty Rains even.

Last night we watched No Country For Old Men. It was the first time I have seen it since it came out.

I remember having a few misgivings about it the first time around. It was definitely a thumbs up but with reservations. As I recall I was unsatisfied with the ending and just found the whole approach too linear.

I remember around the time it was winning the Best Picture Oscar there was some backlash out there. People even compared it to a standard slasher picture.

I gotta say, on second viewing I think it is outstanding. No reservations. I like the ending. 8.6 out of 10.
