I am not sure if they are popular or underrated but I enjoyed them so I will join the discussion:

1. UHF
2. Gattaca
3. A Scanner Darkly
4. Minority Report
5. 12 Monkeys
6. Layer Cake
7. Trainspotting
8. Children of Men
9. UP
10. Moon
11. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
12. Leon: The Professional
13. Dark City
14. The City of Lost Children
15. Stalker

I omitted some of the more obvious films based on Philip K. Dick source material but I am a big fan of him and the sci-fi genre. I watched Miller's Crossing some time ago because I read it was acclaimed. I thought it was stale truth be told. I've watched a few Woody Allen movies but don't see the appeal.

Please to be apologizing if my list is not up to scruff as judged by you merchants of cool. I will include some more obscure titles in the future to conform. Regards.

An Unfinished Life was an interesting one to bring up. I remember when it came out. Some people criticized that Morgan Freeman was basically just repeating his Oscar winning performance from Million Dollar Baby - without realizing that this movie was made before that but had sat on the shelf for years.

For some reason, it just had a hard time finding its place in the world. Something didn't click.

Good movie, I thought. As an awful lot of people have never even heard of it, it definitely fits in the category of underrated.




Zero Effect is a good one too. Little known but I remember liking that one a lot.
 
One that has me scratching my head from the first list is Safe (1995)

I am a pretty big Julianne Moore fan but I don't think I heard of that one. I just watched the trailer. It was intriguing - it has potential. Something about a mysterious, possibly alien disease?


Anyone seen that?
 
Never seen or heard of it.

Can I just stray for a minute to say how much I hate Kevin Kline for stealing away Phoebe Cates right during her prime (looks). That dick.

I became a man many times over watching Phoebe Cates take off that red bikini top, and I feel like she still had so much more to give.
