I was working yesterday afternoon and 5 guys that are building a casino 5 miles from me were having drinks. One was telling another about how his mom had lost $14,000 in slots in one day at a casino. She had lost from the get go, and was trying to win it back. I overheard this and of course had to chime in.

I regaled them with my loser stories. They had a good laugh and left a $36 tip on a $94 check.

The mom story got me thinking, what was the dumbest or most obscure bet I had ever made.

I remember as a kid, betting on the first Bud Bowl. I think I had Bud Light +3. I also remember sitting on the radiator in my high school cafeteria and betting with a friend which gender would walk into the cafeteria doors next. I bet on a pie eating contest once, but that was a losing bet that paid dividends for me down the road.

It's crazy what some of us do for action.

Well, I remember once begging my brother to play card game Hrap with me for pennies, and getting very upset when he took all my pennies.

this is great description of Hrap::lmao:

card game 'Snoring', popular in Russia. The program features an almost complete set of rules: you can 'Snoring,' 'fun,' 'Help,' 'Sad' and declare 'undertake'. However, you can not 'go 5 Card': if all the players refused to help, the Bank takes Khrapoun.

But my problem was never a huge desire for action, although action is cool.

That description sounds about as Communist as you can get for a card game.
