They seem okay, the Uihleins (they Americanized the spelling for the company name.). Liz and Dick are the founders and now they have kids taking over.

Liz is more actively in charge at this point. She does some weird-ish stuff - like inspecting the warehouses by walking around giving the racking the white glove test - but there is a theory behind it. She wants super-clean warehouses and that's what she's got. There are a bunch of OCD-ish things in our operating procedures but bottom line, you can't say they don't know how to run a business.

Things are far from perfect communications-wise at Uline. But I have had A LOT of jobs and that is almost always true.

I can actually only think of a couple jobs I had (out of 70-ish) that I would have described the communication as good.

I once worked for a company that sold Human Resources training and consulting and assessment. A major part of what we were selling was communications techniques and skills. We charged outrageous dollars for our expertise. Did we have good internal communication?

Not particularly.

muddy you should become a computer programmer

seriously

it's just writing, math and problem solving

I don't know about this. I was not good at it in school. At all. Actually the memories are coming back and I was damn terrible.

So I do know about this.

There are some things that people always assume I would be good at - computers are one - stock market etc. is another.

Turns out: nope.

Working Saturday

boo for working on saturday.

Yeah, I know it's a fairly common problem, but you'd think they'd want to address it and fix it at some point so that things run smoother, employees and clientele are happier, and less mistakes get made.
but no. we're good...I guess

Guy got canned yesterday. It moves me up the pecking order, particularly on Sundays.

I like the guy. He was a good guy to joke around with. But his attendance was terrible as was his accuracy. He was an error machine. Super fast at picking - but always with errors.

I know he was very upset about the situation but there was legit reason to let him go. I don't know what the powers-that-be were focusing on reason-wise; that of course is not the sort of thing they blab about openly; but I have to assume the attendance was a big thing and his attendance was legitimately atrocious.

Good guy though.

But it moves me up the pecking order.

I believe this is where one uses the word: schadenfreude.
