$111.7 million for 6 years vs $78 million for 5 years

Darvish better be WAY better than CJ for that money.

the difference is we knew what we were getting with cj. a crappy post season pitcher douche that none of the team really liked. he also is a #2 pitcher at best. with darvish the upside is he could be our chris carpenter or our tim linecum. we figure worst case he is as good as cj

How did this movie get such great reviews?

It's not even a film; there's no climax. Beane was never in jeopardy of losing his job, so trying to plug that in as one of the main plot lines is laughable.

From a baseball standpoint, it's just retarded. Beane flies 2K miles across the country to discuss trading for a relief pitcher. Oakland is a shithole, but pretty sure they still have phones there.

What's the point of the film? Oakland didn't win anything. They didn't even get any further than they did the previous season. Lost in the ALDS both times.

It's funny the film tries to give credit for the team's success to the replacements for Giambi and Damon. Mulder, Hudson, Zito, Tejada, etc. are never even mentioned.

Winning streak(s) was/were unreal given the ho-hum lineup, crippled first baseman and all.

The point of the movie was to tell the story of this one guy who was the first to approach the managing game differently. :dunno:

It's no classic, but it was a fun/interesting watch IMO.

The advanced statistical analysis was already a part of Oakland's philosophy. Jonah Hill's character had been on the staff for years. They didn't hire him and on the spot change to this previously unheard of approach, as the film implies.

Have you read the book? I think if you read the book you will have a different opinion of the movie.
