Maybe I'll become a fan

Here then is the final word on my sports fandom.

I will continue to follow The Canadian and world curling championships and my team is obviously Canada. No particular favorite in the Canadian championships. I just cheer for who I think has the best chance to win the worlds and if there are, as usual, multiple candidates, I cheer for the personality I like best. Some weight may be given to my home province but only as a last tiebreaker.

So that is every year.

Other than that, I got the Blue Jays and the Raptors. Attention will increase (greatly) if they contend and if that happens every 10-20 years, that is probably, along with the curling every year, enough sports fandom for me.

As for the NFL, I do like to watch some but I can't see adopting a team so I will just make more of a point of being in a pool in coming years.

No NHL team. No college.

And with that, I think I'm good.

Good call on the no college. College sports is a farce.

I guess it can be a thrill if you believe it's a thrill.

My brother has always cheered for Notre Dame in football and the Hoyas in hoops. Through good times and bad. He has no actual connection to them but that's his position and he feels a part of them and it can add real excitement to his life at times.

My problem is I could tell myself I am a fan of such-and-such in hopes of getting that extra excitement that he gets, but in journeying through this thread, I have become convinced I couldn't pull it off. I would know it was all artificially contrived and there wouldn't be any feeling.

My new AL team for 2013! Fiver needs a winner!
