I just saw a commercial for coverage of the upcoming Masters and was surprised at how little Tiger Woods was in there. He was maybe the 5th face they showed. There was only a couple flashes of him among about a dozen little clips.

Not long ago, marketing the Masters would have started and ended with Tiger. Times are changing.

Is that guy really done?

Well it all depends on what "done" is, Mudcat.

Is he done being the dominant player he was? Absolutely. Age alone will ensure that.

Is he done making tons of cash on the Tour and on the Senior circuit when the time comes. My guess is absolutely not.

The Masters is easily my favorite major of the year and I'm really looking forward to Thursday.

Done might be too strong just yet but it is obvious that at the moment he isn't the face of the sport.

His current play coupled with his off the course indiscretions certainly have him on the backburner but you can bet that if he makes the transition and gets his game back marketers and the media will be wetting themselves again.

The guy still has game but with all the stuff he got involved with and all the embarrassment surrounding it all it has taken his focus off his game. When his dad was alive he kept him so inline and on point that the other stuff while probably still a factor was never allowed to get out of control. If Tiger decides to re-dedicate himself to the game he can once again be the dominant player for a few more years. I'm just not sure if it means as much to him as it did his dad.

As for golf itself this is great though. The game should never be about THAT GUY, it should be about the game itself. There are a great number of talented players and there are an incredible amount of talented guys on their way up.

I think Tiger will at least test the waters on the Senior Tour.

A) He lost a ton of endorsement money during the Thanksgiving debacle. His monthly nut must be huge between his child support/alimony and his standard of living.

B) He's ultra-competitive (no matter what Wally says). He'll crave the competition if he steps away from the game too long.

Personally, I'm glad the days of him winning majors by 12 strokes are over. The networks aren't but I am.

He may play PGA events and majors in his 50s but I dont see him playing senior events. That money is nothing, hes made nearly a billion, the golf money is nothing to him.

Is that fat drunk dude that looks like Acid Joe going to be playing?

Craig Stadler?
