It says this model of clawless lobster protects itself by making a loud noise (with its antennae). Didn't hear anything with the first one. Might have heard something with the second one but obviously not enough to get the job done.

maybe an under water sonar type noise that would be hated by under water predators

I don't think the lobsters have evolved enough to adapt to trying to protect themselves from a human on dry ground putting them in a pot of steaming water as i'm sure that is a fate met by only a tiny fraction of lobsters in the world
