Like a Canada-Russia semi-final - I have all kinds of context for that. My mental real estate for the words Canada-Russia hockey - it's vast and deep. I have shed tears after Canada/Russia hockey on more than one occasion. 72, 81, 84, 87 ---> probably the most compelling hockey I will ever see.

Canada-USA, it has meaning. Canada-Sweden. Even Canada-Czech, there's '98 Nagano.

What is this Team North America? I theoretically like some of them but then I don't want to see young Canadians trying to beat Team Canada. I want to see them shedding blood to make sure Team Canada wins. I sure am not going to cheer for Americans in hockey.

:dunno:

But I imagine they will keep doing this. Seems like it's been a commercial success.

I admit that the last two NA games were the best games of the tournament. Hopefully some of the hockey coaches/gurus will take note and realize that the way to good hockey is not through a mistake free defensive grind, but through creative, quick offensive play. That would be good for hockey.

They realize it, there are not enough to go around. Some teams don't like to pay high-scoring players also, a team full of muckers are cheaper(think NJ Devils in their heyday).

I watched a little of this, couldn't get into this tourney at all.

Canada Dominates Hockey, World Yawns

The rebooted World Cup of Hockey has produced major upsets and some exciting hockey. But it still suffers from a familiar problem: Team Canada is just too good.

Saw above headline after game 1 ...... it's what I have said here before and will always believe! The boys up North are just the best at it! Beginning from when I first got into the sport in the early 70's up to now! It won't change!

we spanked them pretty good in the 70's and 80's and we'll spank them good again soon :punches: If a razgu bunch of aging Europeans can compete well with Canada no reason the "hockey powerhouse" countries shouldn't be able to.

just cause US can't win a single game doesn't mean you gotta poo poo the tournament
