as you know - i have a 5 year old step-son.

when my wife and i started dating - i refused to meet the son until i knew that the relationship was going somewhere.

long story, short - met wifes son 6-7 months into the relationship. all went well - got married - and now he calls me daddy and he is my son.

i feel bad and sorry for all those kids out there who have numerous "uncles" just to get the mom's hole filled.
