he wasnt keen on his sons receiving participation trophies, so he sent them back.

Harrison posted a picture on Facebook of the two trophies his sons brought home with a scathing caption underneath.

I came home to find out that my boys received two trophies for nothing, participation trophies! While I am very proud of my boys for everything they do and will encourage them till the day I die, these trophies will be given back until they EARN a real trophy. Im sorry Im not sorry for believing that everything in life should be earned and Im not about to raise to boys to be men by making them believe that they are entitled to something just because they tried their bestcause sometimes your best is not enough, and that should drive you to want to do betternot cry and whine until somebody gives you something to shut u up and keep you happy. #harrisonfamilyvalues

I heard people have this attitude against "participation trophies" before. I don't know why its an issue. I don't know if there should be trophies at all. Can't we just let kids play without telling them they have to be #1 at everything? :sparesomecutter:

The novelty of receiving shitty hockey and soccer medals have really worn off for my boys. Everyone small tournament or whatever the kids get medals. They basically take them and chuck them wherever. Fuck I found a broken one in the car a month ago. Participation shit like this is a waste of money.

I find it insulting to the kids. Like he thinks you give them a participation trophy and they're going to take it like they won a championship.

If it's a participation trophy, I would assume they know how little it means and value it accordingly. Everbody's got one and it's not particularly special. Obviously.

Harrison is projecting. He's thinking they'll take it to be equal to trophies he won when he was a kid.

i.e. - he thinks they're retarded.
