Jota passed me this tidbit.
Copa do Brazil > Atletico Roraima x Portuguesa SP 7:30pm
Atletico won the Roraima (way up north by Venezuela) state championship at the start of last year and earned their spot in this year's Copa do Brasil. When the State championsship finished they played the Serie D national championship. Serie D is divided in a first half and second half for the year. You got to earn the chance to play the second, they didn't and got eliminated. After elimination the team went broke and ceased to exist around mid year 2009.
The city County took over name rights, etc. Now the County, instead of rebuilding the team, hired an amateur social club with players from 17-20 yrs old from Rio Grande do Sul (way south by Argentina) to fill their spot in the Copa do Brasil. The fans are furious and will be boycotting their participation. To make matters worse they couldn't find direct flight into Roraima and had to flight to the city of Manaus, and then to Boa Vista, Roraima 500 miles by bus. In their only practice before this game they lost 7-0.
Now, Portuguesa is a team that plays in the first division of the Sao Paulo state championship, a traditional team that play week in and week out with top teams. To make a play in Portuguesa more juicy, the rule in this competition states that if the away team wins by 2 or more goals their is no need for a 2nd leg return game.
So..
Portuguesa -1.25 -200 3u
Over 3 -125 2u
Portuguesa ML -400 10u
