yep. and a dip separating yard from the road. He made it through the dip and up the stairs somehow. Must've been flying.

I am no scientist, but I am guessing this person was probably in a van or an SUV. No way a car would be able to clear the dip and steps and drive away from the scene.

I'm no contractor but the lack of visual damage (at least to me) suggests that there is a lot of damage, that is, something bearing a load from that house slowed the car down...I would definitely have it inspected

the outside wall which supports the rafters slowed it down.

depends what the rest of the room looks like...
if the framing shifted any considerable amount then theres gonna being busted seams in the sheetrock in other spots...

That would have been awesome. That tree is half dead. I would much rather have a new tree that a new wall. Although it's possible that it would have needed "help" with the hammer. It's a pretty solid tree.
