Robyn is a very good singer. I am still waiting for her to post a video with some singing. I have posted about 8 and I am just some big hairy man. You'd think she could do one.

I am also waiting for a keyboard playing video from RogueScholar.

I'm not sure what Jello does so let's say interpretive dance. I'd like a Jello interpretive dance video.



So yes, I miss them posting in general plus I have some specific ideas.

Robyn is back, Rogue Scholar is back, now we just have to get Jello back and my forumville world will be complete.

Wow, I was brought up in conversation. I feel special. And not the short bus, helmet kind that I usually feel like.

That was twice today that I felt special. Today was Roller Derby try outs for the next group of newbies. I went to scrimmage (not playing, helping to ref) and then to help at tryouts. Since I'm not a league member yet I got paired with a senior skater to get with a group of girls and test them. I got paired with Deranged, Psycobabble's sister. Both of them are speed skaters and amazing. She's really nice but both her and her sister are unstoppable on the track. Psychobabble has been known to skate an entire jam backwards just to prove that she's faster than you skating backwards than you are skating forwards.

In the derby world this is a famous/imfamous video of Deranged at Nationals punching a girl in the back of the head. They slow it down at about 35 sec. She was ejected from the game and couldn't skate in the next one. The "next one" was the deciding game of taking either third or fourth in nationals. Without Deranged, RMRG took 4th.

Probably a boring story, but I thought I'd share because god knows Mr. X and Reno Cool are sick to death about talking derby. I need some fresh ears to 'splode.

 
Jello is focused on self-improvement. Posting on the Internet is very, very serious business and can absorb far too much personal time. I wish him GL in his ventures.

I have been meaning to ask you about the derby. There is one here in Tampa but I can't seem to get much information on it. I used to speed skate back in the olden days (I actually still have my old Pacer Formula F-II skates). But anyway, I would love to get a little more info as to how one becomes involved in the derby.
 
Speed skating! You're my new hero. It looks like you just missed it, but maybe if you email someone they can work something out.

Recruitment depends on the league and how much practice space they have. Some leagues take everyone, and some are picky. We have our own warehouse so we can take everyone. If you email them, they can fill you in. If it's anything like our league there are try outs about every six months.

If you missed the tryouts, I would really recommend that you volunteer as a ref or other official. It's really fun, a great way to meet people and to learn rules and strategy.
