They are nowhere near as bad as their September record, coming into today's games they had scored the 4th highest number of runs this month - the problem is the pitching. When you get to the point when you have lost four of your opening day five man rotation (especially where the only one remaining is John Lackey), your trade deadline rotation replacement likes spending time on the DH, your normally dependable set up guy starts throwing game after game and there isn't any major league ready talent in the minors you're in big trouble.

With the Sox looking to lose the wild card lead and the Bills beating the Patriots it's not a good day to be the wife of an angry Beantown drunk.

It's one of those things. The Yankees should really be trying to lose. You have to figure they'd rather see this Sox staff in the playoff pool than the Rays.

On the other hand, it is a hated rival so I guess they want to put the knife in.
