My Stanley Cup prediction is the Blackhawks by the way. Not sure if I mentioned it here.

Cheering as always for a Canadian team - which means Montreal in this case - but consider that no-chance. Predicting Chi.

In case anyone is sitting on the edge of their seat waiting for that information.

One theory that I have heard goes something like this. If Boston has a relatively easy (not extremely physical) ride thru Detroit and Montreal to the final, they may end up the healthier team by the time the Final comes around.

All of the Western Series seem to have a lot more hitting and fighting which can really wear teams down and the rate of attrition is seemingly a lot higher for teams like Los Angeles, San Jose, St. Louis and Chicago.

It would be hard not to include the Bruins in the discussion for Cup favorite.

IF Colorado can survive the 1st round, I do like them as a dog vs Chicago.

Kings look REALLY good. I took them after the 1st period -1.5 -117 at Pinny.

I can see them coming back and winning this series. Not a fan of the Sharks. No team in the NHL has cost me more money than SJ the last 8 years. I'll be happy to see them choke.

Will be betting the Kings on monday night.

Why does it seem universally accepted that you stay on the ice with no stick being completely ineffective?

8 seconds of 5 on 4 has to be better than an indefinite amount of skating around, not being able to do hardly anything, and confusing your teammates in the process.

Near center ice, they skate to the bench and get another stick. If the puck is in their defensive zone, they can still contribute by checking and blocking shots.

I understand this, of course. My contention, based on years of watching hockey, is that they are vastly overestimating their ability to contribute via checking, blocking shots, and the occasional defensive-zone hand-pass. It appears to me that they would be much better off giving the other team a 10 second power play. It does not appear like a close call to me.

But I guess I'm probably wrong. The best minds in the hockey world seem to think otherwise. :dunno:

One of the games yesterday (col?) the player went to the bench while the puck was in play and they gave him the wrong stick, needed a RH stick and they have him a LH.

You are right MrX. As with examples I could name in many sports, it is a stupid, short-sighted product of simple minds. I'm sure in their minds there is something about honor and not abandoning their teammates and "giving their all."

Meanwhile they are increasing the chances of giving up a goal.

These are not scientists.
