Fischay!

Fischay I hear that Scholar is badmouthing me in chat. :biglaugh: Not petty one bit.
I was explaining how our meeting didn't leave me inclined to want to meet anymore strangers off the Internutty. I'm sure you can understand, I doubt either of us would care to relive those 24 hours, there wasn't a pleasant moment to be had during the whole thing.

That was a hilarious experience. I swear, every album/CD either one of us picked up and beamed about, the other would raise an eyebrow with a facial expression that could only say "You listen to that shit?"

It's true, I was at the clearance section for vinyl and I saw an album that I've wanted since I was a boy: Mario Lanza performs The Student Prince! It was all the more poignant considering I've been working on creating a modern arrangement of the Gaudeamus and Mario Lanza's performance of that piece is the high water mark of all recordings for that song. It cost me all of one dollar! Matty then looked at me, and actually had the audacity to ask who Mario Lanza was. Of course we're even since I did that in reference to his jazz musicians.

Fun day though, walking through the Haight, driving down the crooked side of Lombard telling Bill Cosby jokes, having lunch at Lefty O'Doul's, it was a great day. May all poster meetings go so well.

Alright, I've had it with this Scholar character. This is retribution for calling me an immature douchebag.

Wishy-washy pseudo-philosophical rants aren't exactly deep discussion.

You want people to express admiration towards your writing. Some people do - but it pisses you off that shanty and several other Forumville "celebrities" have managed to do it with more consistency than you. Period.

That I can believe. You're just extremely e-needy.

Ignoring the fact that the first part of your statement is insincere, appreciating shanty's unique mish-mash of Paki culture and English language might well be a deeper form of "examination of the abstract" than whatever it is you think you're doing when you get overly wordy on us.

This place isn't "becoming" anything IMO, it's essentially the same group of witty douchebags being themselves all over again, post-SBR_John-Tilt-of-2010.

aka a "facsimile" and "I'm 29" :spinner:

Scholar, this place is filled with smart people - you're just too uncompromising to realize that "smart" takes many different forms and you can't accept the fact that you're not being "trumped up" to the level of greatness you think you're entitled to.

Most people here have managed to find their niche and they are content with the type of interaction they can manage in the jungle that is a public Internet forum. You just can't seem to do it at all, no matter the crowd.

You're an intelligent guy who likes to craft long-winded sentences and then have people comment on how intelligently crafted your long-winded sentences are. But don't kid yourself - as far as Forumville is concerned, you're proving yourself to be much more of a one-trick pony than shanty and JJ. At least they take on all comers and don't threaten to go home every time they face adversity.

I'm feeling the impending approach of a 1000-word post filled with redundancies.

Having met Matty over lunch I can say for a person of Quebecois decent, he isn't that bad of a guy...... Once this travel shit stops and work slows down and I can catch my breath I need to go out and party hard in downtown TO with him. I think that would make for a good night.
