I think Tomato meant purely betting on the Yankees rather than hedging in general. Yankees lines are generally worse than they should be because because people always like to bet on the Yankees irrelevant of the price offered (think of it like people who buy anything Apple branded).

True. Although, hedging is pretty square generally as well unless you have an edge on the hedge. If you're hedging live, you're killing off some (or all) of the edge you currently hold. If it's in a parlay, you're paying double vig to secure less than the current value of your ticket.
