:lmao: yeah, muddy is Wantitall4moi 2.0 ... won so much that it got boring and he stopped gambling... i know plenty of guys that are ahead for a period of time... let them keep going and they will eventually hang themselves betting sides.

Well, money transfer issues are a legitimate reason to stop wagering on sports.

My question was not sarcastic in any sense.

With that said, labeling NFL sides and totals as "easiest wagering sport there is" will likely raise some eyebrows around sports betting forums.

It was a proportionate response to the statement that no one makes money longterm at it (which I was giving credit for being a bit tongue-in-cheek but it seems that way less and less). And in fact my statement is only a fraction as outrageous as it is subjective while the other is simply wrong without debate.

I know it is a very common cliche behavior of sports bettors to believe that they are everyman. Because I can't do it, no one can. But people really are different. Same as with everything else.

For me NFL is easiest (per capita). I don't know if anyone would imagine I am lying about that and something else is actually easier for me. That would be one of the stranger lies of all time.

I believe you. I don't know what you mean by "per capita" in this context though. ?

Easiest wagering sport there is.

See, I'm ok with you saying "easiest sport to wager on for me". But that's not what was originally said.

In my 6 years or so in sports betting I have attempted to learn as much as I have time for from books on the subject and discussions with professional bettors and one conclusion I have come to (and I could be wrong) is that:

NFL is a very efficient market.

16 or so highly publicized games a week as opposed to say 40 games a night of college basketball etc etc.

And I agree with you on your point about the Everyman Theory.

But another trait common amongst gamblers is that many of them fool themselves in regards to their own success (or lack thereof) at it.

I know SO many guys who are long term losers in poker but if you ask them, they're sure that they're up lifetime. And I feel strongly the same holds true for NFL sides/totals bettors.

I am not saying that is the case with you and I apologize for my prior statement that you were a long term loser in NFL.

:handshake:

By the way, do you still wager on the NFL and if no, why?

Yes, as I explained, the rhetoric in the wording was intentional. It was a proportionate, satirical response to your complete departures from speaking for yourself in this thread.

I agree, speaking for yourself ---> it's a thing.

I didn't actually read your whole previous post before as the work day was winding down, and I feel like my response to the first line probably could and should have been more measured if I took in the full flavor of it.

Ugh. Work - always cramping my style. My bad.

I don't bet on sports right now, no.

I noticed the comment earlier about transfer fees. That's not the reason.

Conversationally, the NFL is small potatoes compared to baseball for me which, to address another question, is what I meant by per capita. It was my cute way of saying that, while NFL is easiest to cap and produces the highest return on investment (as tracked by decades of closely monitored data) baseball has so many more games that it was by far my biggest bulk earner and if I got back to that kind of work, baseball would be my first focus.

But whatever, no, I have a full-time job right now and that's enough.

All work and no play etc, etc . . .
