Home team is the dog in this prop because they bat second.
Many times I've won this wager taking the home team to score first at +odds when they were -150 or worse on the moneyline.

As a diehard Sox fan, when I saw that line yesterday, I knew they were going to lose. WAY too low considering they had just lost 3 straight to TB and fought valiantly on Sunday night. Detroit, albeit playing better as of late are still Detroit. That line should've been Boston -160. Bettors thought the price was tantalizing. I felt it was a trap.

Today's line makes a lot more sense.
