So I bought a computer on ebay on Saturday without a whole lot of research into whether I was getting a great deal or not. Comparable models were being sold for more than I paid for the computer. The seller is located 30 minutes from where I live and offered "Local pickup." We had arranged to meet on Sunday and at the last minute he told me he had brought the wrong computer. I called him yesterday and did not receive a call back.
Today the ebay seller is telling me that he had an "emergency" come up and had to go to Texas and will not be able to give me the item until late January and offered to refund my money immediately.

So now I am wondering:

1) Is this computer worth fighting for through ebay and waiting until January?

2) If somebody doesn't get the amount they are expecting from a sold item can they just refund the money to protect themselves?

Any input on how I should handle the situation would be greatly appreciated.

It's 99% certain to be an illegal version. The same one you're going to install yourself. :wah:

If he's really providing a genuine Office license, then it may be worth it to you, especially if you're buying it for your company and your area/industry often needs to go through software licensing audits.

so where do I find this illegal Office software. mine came with the 60 day trial and I transferred all my contracts/documents to this new computer.
now I cant access my contracts cause the trial ran out?
what are my options?

There are lots of torrent sites out there. People have told me, that Pirate Bay is reliable. I can only give you second hand information seeing as how I am an upstanding citizen of the United States and follow all copyright laws to the letter :wha:

There are also lots of free torrent clients (software) that you can use. The tutorial in the link gives you two options, but you can research others.

Before downloading whatever it is you're looking for, be sure to read through some of the comments to verify the authenticity and/or any problems users might be having with the files. Another thing to look at is seeders (people uploading) vs. leechers (people downloading). Sometimes there are multiple uploads of what you might be looking for, more seeders means faster download.

*Mr. X says for what your looking for seeders vs. leechers probably won't be a issue. Popular stuff is usually easily seeded. I'm always just assuming that people are searching from random VHS rips from 1986.....doesn't everyone do this? Mr. X, who also would never use such a thing, read somewhere that uTorrent (pronounced micortorrent) is the best torrent client.
