They are lost again. 15 minutes on the phone to get them somewhere that is only 10 minutes from the house that they've been 1,000 times. No wonder I'm going threw a tank of gas per week. This is the easiest city perhaps in the whole world to navigate.

I think I'm gonna like the Durito thread just fine.

Good stuff. This thread FTW.

So, Suegra Gloria and Tio Julian are looking for jobs so as to stop draining the life out of me, at least financially. This being Colombia, and them being them, obviously this process is taking quite a while. More on this later, just a quick story to start us off.

So last week Julian has a job interview, and as everyday Madeleyne asks me where said place is and how to get there (much more on this later). They give me the address. Carrera 70, Calle 45-56. The city is a grid, carreras run one way, calles the other. Very easy. So I tell them were it is, suggest that the metro is easier to get there than taking my car out again. They go there. It's not there. It is in way far from there, like 90 blocks. I gave them bad directions. No, really I didn't. The actual address is Calle 45 SOUTH.

They don't understand, they insist they have the address correct without the south. Which is of course impossible. We all live in the south, all of the streets here are SOUTH. The place was real near here, they went all the way downtown. They still don't get it and think I screwed up.

I think you need to stop being so patient with these people. Aren't they actually FROM Columbia and they are asking you for directions? I know it is your girlfriends mother, but come onnnnnnnnnn. Not that I know the whole story, but it sounds to me that the "I got lost on the way to a job interview" was an attempt to prolong unemployment and then blame you for giving bad directions.

Ah, but Robyn they've only live in Medellin 2.5 years. I've been here 3.5 years.

They get lost every day. I mean it's literally impossible to get lost here, but they end up completely across town from where they want to be.

But, alas, there is good news. He got the job. Mind you it took 23 interviews and tests (this country is retarded, it's a minimum wage job) and now they (yes all 4 them go out together everyday, as if doing something by oneself is impossible -- 3 really since baby Emily just goes were she is taken) it appears he will be working next week. Which is the whole reason he moved here, to get Gloria away from me. Which I suspect temporarily is going to have to opposite effect. At least now they all leave in the car all day, now since Julian is the only driver I suspect I'm going to get even less work done than I already do. Sweet. But, hey at least they are trying in their own special way.

Durito, it sounds like an extended vacation to the States is quite necessary. Just don't leave your car in their care when you do.

Please take some funny incognito pictures of Gloria and Julian and post them here. Photoshop funz!
