There was this one rescue cat I'll never forget. I was jumping out of a burning building and it wrapped its tiny paws around me sprinted me down the stairs and threw me to safety. In did pass from smoke inhalation because it unwisely went back for someone else....but that was one fuck of a rescue cat.

Foooooook cats.

An otter is a wild animal and you cannot have one as a pet, period. Many species of otter are endangered to begin with, without the added harrassment of people trying to keep them as a pet. They are larger, heavier and stronger than they look on TV, and are not made to be hugged and snuggled, no matter how "cute" they are. Take a good look at an otter's teeth and that should tell you how cuddly they are. They can bite a big fish (which is what you'd have to feed them, by the bucketful) right in half. Whoever posted that they would bite right through your hand is right.

Sure they're cute, but you'd do a lot better to find a group who works with otter conservation and contribute than to try to imprison a wild animal. And I suspect your landlord would have a heart attack. Give your attention to conservation and if you want an apartment-friendly pet, get a cat.
