I would not eat with:

IAG because of the zones
Sadcat because of the zones
Brendan Walsh unless Brenda was there
I would with Houser but I'd be dressed up as Dave Chappel
I'd eat with Casper but I'd have protective glass over my TV dinner brownie until time of consumption
I'd eat with Reno but not venicon
Teela - those goats are not sanitary
I'd eat with Blitty but if the place had a bathroom with a window I'd be prepared to pick up the tab
I'd eat with Caligirl but if I spotted undercover Interpol I'd pull the bathroom trick
I'd eat with Matty only if U2 was playing the entire time

I took down the wall that seperated my original dining room and kitchen. So now I don't know if where we eat is considered the dining room or kitchen or what. What i do know is you can definitely hear the tv and see it from some seats at the table.

Bottom line is the tv goes off, you don't wear a hat at the table and you don't take phone calls.

ill eat with anyone...i just prefer to eat in peace, then converse... dont start a convo with me while you are slurping spaghetti or have spinach crammed all in your teeth... i wont be paying any attention :dontthinkso:

i guess it might be a little different, the part about eating at the table, if i were married with asshole kids running around

Eat at the table every night we are at home. Now that we are at our new house it seems like that is only time to get everyone together. Dinner time is very important family time.

we did as a kid... i think most families do... its a good time for the parents to find out whats going on in their kids lives and such... like i said, i would probably do the same if i had some rugrats ... mcb, you are a good dad/hubby and good family man... i see the pics on fb and it looks like you are really living the american dream with a great wife and family  i wish i could travel more like you

We sit on the floor with my family when eating at Moroccan restaurant.

i eat on the floor all the time at vietnamese friends houses... some strange cultures out there

Exactly. Although my family's thing was more about silences and/or forced lame conversation than hysteria.

At least they have music playing. If we ever had music playing, it was the exception.

Music playing would have made it more bearable.

I wonder if family-dinner-at-the-table was where I developed my extreme aversion to eating sounds.

Chicken and egg situation. Did I already have that and that's why I hated forced communal feeding? Or was I a blank slate and I came to associate those sounds with a bad situation.

Music would have helped.

My wife and I and our children eat together as a family at the diner table every single weekday and 50/50 on weekends. Family time is very important to me and give us a chance to talk and ask each other how our day / school was.
