My dad died 10 years ago this December. He lived 9 months after the stroke that eventually ended his life. I probably spent more quality time with him in the last year before he died than the rest of his life. I loved my dad but I wouldn't say we were close per se. It was a weird relationship as he was 45 when I was born. I did not appreciate all that he did for me when I was younger. He was an amazing man and did so much for me. He wasn't a warm and fuzzy type, but that was the generation he was from. He was more concerned about getting his kids educated and financially secure (because he never got to go to college and lived thru the depression.) He was extremely intelligent, made my mom happy for 56 years, and I wish I would have appreciated him more when I was younger.

Ahem....lesson to all who can't answer the question. Sounds trite, but don't wait until it's too late to get introspective.
Bread you get a pass.

My daddy beat the hell out of me...many times for things that did not deserve beatings. Hard to get past that.

Maybe daddy was a prophetic in knowing you deserved some as an adult that he wouldn't be able to give you? Just sayin! Hopefully this might help you get past it! Luv ya!

love my dad more than anyone else in the world...hard to imagine a guy doing more for his boys... outside of religion, we are very similar in millions of ways... he is very needy since mom passed, but living close by is a hugh plus and makes going to take care of something he needs done, pretty easy...outside of being on a trip, i cant remember the last day i didnt see or talk to him..the worst his health gets, the harder it is to find an excuse not to hang out with him.

There is no way I could possibly love him more. Very proud to say he's a Viet Vet. He has many times given me advice and other things when I have needed it. He is the ultimate teacher and the strongest man I have ever seen. I'm very lucky to say that my Dad is a great man in every facet I can ever imagine and I and anyone else who knows him well would do anything for him. Dude's funny as fok too when he and I get rolling gl Cami 3 hours later.
